What to Expect

Your pet's annual vet check-up will include a total physical exam, with a thorough examination of your pet's head, body and tail, and everywhere in between. It's also the perfect time to review your pets vaccination history, nutrition, and stock up on your pets parasite preventatives.

Because even the most cooperative pet may not readily go-along with a tooth and gum brushing, an annual dental cleaning may be recommended. Like you, your pet can develop serious dental disease and tooth decay. Severe periodontal disease can lead to serious systemic disease, including heart failure! Your pets dental health will be evaluated with his or her physical exams and we will discuss dental cleaning needs and at-home dental care.

Dr. Jones is a caring, calm, and compassionate veterinarian and will explain all the procedures your pet undergoes in order to make both you and your pet feel comfortable. We have qualified staff and facilities to perform procedures requiring anesthesia, such as dental cleaning, spays and neuters, and other soft tissue surgical procedures. Because of the general risks inherent to anesthesia, especially for very old, very young or very ill pets, we may suggest blood work, urinalysis, or x-rays before your pet is anesthetized. During the procedure we provide surgical monitoring of blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, body temperature, IV catheterization with fluid therapy, and ECG's in some cases.

Dr. Jones may refer you to a specialist, veterinarians who have completed advanced studies in specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, and emergency care, if your pet must undergo a procedure that requires more precise knowledge and experience.
